The Abia State Government has announced the Grand Finale of activities marking the 3rd Anniversary of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2026.
In a press release signed by Hon. Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on May 28, 2026, the government said the day will feature an Anniversary Parade at 10:00AM and a State Banquet at 5:00PM. The events will bring together government officials, stakeholders, dignitaries, and citizens to celebrate the achievements of the present administration over the past three years.
“The Government invites Ndi Abia and residents to be part of this historic celebration of progress, transformation, and renewed hope in Abia State,” Kanu stated in the release.
The anniversary comes against the background of an ongoing national debate over whether a single term of four years is adequate for a president to deliver impactful and transformational governance. The issue was recently reignited by Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, who has publicly argued that four years is sufficient for a committed leader to show clear results if there is political will.
Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, was sworn in on May 29, 2023. With one year left in his first term, Friday’s Grand Finale is expected to serve both as a scorecard of the past three years and a statement on what the administration believes can be achieved within a four-year cycle. Government officials are expected to highlight key projects and reforms in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic revitalisation during the parade and banquet.
Security and traffic advisories for Umuahia are expected from state authorities ahead of the events.
